Traditional mobility assessment is episodic: a measurement at intake, perhaps monthly or quarterly thereafter. This study compared that model against frequent smartphone-based gait monitoring in the same participants, asking what the higher-frequency data revealed that periodic assessment missed.

Aggregating frequent measurements produced more stable estimates of true mobility status in this cohort.
